Former US President Donald J. Trump was injured by a gunshot to the ear during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday evening. Despite the incident, he is reported to be safe.

Trump was addressing a large crowd of supporters in Butler, a key swing state town, just days before the Republican National Convention was scheduled to nominate him as the party's presidential candidate. Live footage captured the moment gunfire erupted, prompting Trump to quickly take cover below the podium. Within seconds, US Secret Service agents shielded Trump and secured the area. They then assisted him to safety, where he raised his fist defiantly towards the crowd. As he was escorted away, there were visible signs of blood on his ear and face.

At 6:42 pm Eastern Time, Anthony Guglielmi, Chief of Communications for the US Secret Service, stated on X, "An incident occurred during the evening of July 13 at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania.

The Secret Service has taken necessary protective measures, and the former President is safe. This is an ongoing investigation by the Secret Service, and further details will be provided as they become available."
