Trump Appoints John Ratcliffe as CIA Director, Emphasising Commitment to Truth and National Security
US President-elect Donald Trump has announced that John Ratcliffe, former Director of National Intelligence (DNI), will lead the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in his administration. Trump praised Ratcliffe for his dedication to truth and honesty, highlighting his efforts in exposing false Russian collusion claims and addressing FBI's misuse of civil liberties at the FISA Court.

Ratcliffe's previous role as the sixth DNI involved overseeing the US intelligence community and advising President Trump on intelligence matters during his first term. Trump expressed confidence in Ratcliffe's ability to uphold constitutional rights while maintaining national security, stating, "I look forward to John being the first person ever to serve in both of our nation's highest Intelligence positions. He will be a fearless fighter for the Constitutional Rights of all Americans, while ensuring the Highest Levels of National Security, and PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH."
John Ratcliffe's Contributions
Trump commended Ratcliffe for being truthful about Hunter Biden's laptop when 51 intelligence officials were not. This integrity was among the reasons Trump awarded him the National Security Medal in 2020, recognising his distinguished achievements in intelligence and national security.
Before becoming DNI, Ratcliffe represented Texas's 4th Congressional District for over five years. During his tenure in Congress, he was a key figure in national security policy as part of the House Intelligence and Judiciary Committees. He also served as Cybersecurity Chairman on the Homeland Security Committee.
Trump emphasised Ratcliffe's consistent commitment to truthfulness with the American public. "From exposing fake Russian collusion to be a Clinton campaign operation, to catching the FBI's abuse of Civil Liberties at the FISA Court, John Ratcliffe has always been a warrior for Truth and Honesty with the American Public," Trump stated.
Ratcliffe is set to make history by serving in both top intelligence roles in the US. His appointment reflects Trump's trust in his capabilities to safeguard national interests while prioritising citizens' constitutional rights.
