The abandonment of Singh in such severe conditions was condemned by Calderone as an "act of barbarity." The Indian embassy in Italy has stated that efforts are underway with local authorities to contact Singh's family and provide consular assistance.
The Flai CGIL trade union confirmed that Singh's arm was severed during his farm work, after which he was abandoned near his residence, highlighting the challenges faced by thousands of Indian migrant workers residing in rural areas like Latina, south of Rome, as reported by Hindustan Times citing AFP.

"The Embassy is aware of the very unfortunate demise of an Indian national in Latina, Italy. We are in contact with local authorities. Efforts are underway to contact the family and provide consular assistance," the Indian embassy said, in a statement, on X.
Authorities were reported by Marina Calderone to be conducting an investigation, with hopes expressed that those responsible would be punished.
According to AFP, it was reported that Satnam Singh had been working without proper legal papers. Police informed the news agency that they had been alerted by Singh's wife and friends, and an air ambulance had been dispatched.
The treatment of Singh in a region notorious for worker exploitation was condemned by the centre-left Democratic Party, labeling it a "defeat for civilization."
The sentiments expressed by the Democratic Party on Facebook highlighted their support for Satnam Singh's wife and loved ones, recognizing the deep pain caused by his death compounded by the awareness of the dual violence involved, according to the Facebook post.
The party condemned the harsh working conditions Singh faced, which failed to protect him adequately from accidents, and criticized those responsible for attempting to conceal their role in providing him with inadequate assistance, which ultimately endangered his survival.
Further, they added that the party emphasized their demand for truth and justice in Singh's death, pledging to use it as motivation to not only combat corporate malpractice but also to mobilize collective efforts against the agromafia in the Latina province.
