Total Solar Eclipse 2024: Hotels, Airbnb Sold Out In US Cities Along Path Of Totality

With the total solar eclipse 2024 or Surya Grahan casting a shadow across the United States on April 8th, excitement is reaching a fever pitch. According to AirDNA, a leading provider of data and analytics for short-term rentals (STRs), over half of the cities along the solar eclipse's path are already completely booked for the night of the celestial event.

It must be noted that AirDNA manages data from popular platforms like Airbnb, Vrbo, and Booking.com, giving them a comprehensive view of the rental landscape. Their findings indicate a surge in demand for accommodations in the eclipse's path, with many cities experiencing full occupancy.

US Hotels Sold Out For Solar Eclipse

Skywatchers across the United States have already booked Airbnb properties to observe the beauty of the eclipse this year. Data shows occupancy rates for Airbnb homes reaching 100% in some US cities along the eclipse's path, while cities outside the path see occupancy rates around 10% on April 7th.

Since its posting, the data has garnered a multitude of reactions in the comment section.

North America is gearing up for a total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8th. This cosmic event will start along Mexico's Pacific coast, journeying through Texas and 14 other US states before heading out over Canada. This time, the rare sight-typically only seen in isolated locations-will pass over major cities like Cleveland, Dallas, and Indianapolis. It is the largest eclipse on record for the continent, with an estimated 44 million people living within the path of totality and several hundred million more within 200 miles (320 kilometers).

A partial eclipse will be seen by almost everyone in North America. For those who cannot attend in person, NASA is offering live web streaming from some cities along the path of totality.

Communities along its path will experience brief darkness as the moon's shadow moves diagonally across North America, from the southwest to the northeast. The point of totality will be at Mazatlan, Mexico, and it will end at Newfoundland, Canada.

For those unable to witness the eclipse in person, NASA will be offering live web streaming from select cities along the path of totality, allowing people to experience the event from anywhere in the world.

The total solar eclipse is a reminder of the wonders of the universe and serves as a rare opportunity for people to come together and witness the beauty of nature. North Americans eagerly await this spectacular event, knowing that they will have to wait until 2033 for the next total solar eclipse, visible only in Alaska.
