Tom Cruise Breaks Tradition: A Hand Double Steals The Spotlight In Mission: Impossible 8!
Hollywood star Tom Cruise, renowned for executing jaw-dropping stunts in his films, surprised fans by delegating a seemingly simple task in the upcoming Mission: Impossible 8.
While the actor is famous for daring feats like clinging to a plane mid-flight and leaping off cliffs, reports reveal he hired a hand double to flip a single sheet of paper during filming.

The Unexpected Choice
According to The Mirror, the 62-year-old Cruise, currently filming the latest instalment of the blockbuster franchise, opted for a body double to perform the mundane task of turning a page. A source from the set explained, "Tom is known for performing his own stunts, no matter how dangerous, but this time, he let a hand double step in. It was likely to give him a break after months of intense work on the film."
A video highlighting this choice surfaced online, where a host humorously remarked, "He does all his stunts, but in this movie, he hired a body double... to turn a page! That's the one thing he won't do."
Fans React with Wit
The revelation sparked a wave of humorous reactions on social media. One fan joked, "Imagine the stunt double watching the movie and proudly saying, 'That's my hand right there.'" Another user quipped, "Paper cuts are no joke-they can take you out of action for a while."
Some fans pointed out the industry norm, stating, "This isn't unusual. Many films use doubles for scenes where the actor's face isn't visible. It's called a picture double, not a stunt double." Another added, "Tom turning a page? Too boring for his action-packed image!"
The Mission Continues
The Mission: Impossible franchise, launched in 1996, has become a global phenomenon, following the high-stakes adventures of Ethan Hunt, played by Cruise. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, Mission: Impossible 8-titled The Final Reckoning is set to release on May 23, 2025.
Joining Cruise in the star-studded cast are Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Vanessa Kirby, Pom Klementieff, and Angela Bassett, among others.
Legacy of Action and Humor
Despite this lighthearted controversy, Cruise remains committed to delivering the adrenaline-pumping action fans have come to expect. Whether it's daring stunts or a simple page-turning scene, his dedication to filmmaking continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
For fans, it seems Cruise's legendary action status is intact- even if he occasionally passes the baton for flipping a sheet of paper.
