Three killed in Afghan restaurant blast

, Nov 21: At least three people were killed and 14 wounded on Wednesday when an explosion occurred at a restaurant in

's Kandahar province, Xinhua reported.

The incident took place in the evening in the province's Kandahar city when several people were sitting in the public place, a government spokesperson said. The nature of the blast and the target of the attack, however, remained unknown, he said, adding an investigation had been launched into the incident.

Kandahar is notorious for growing poppy and is a known Taliban hotbed.
