Taliban ambush: 11 soldiers killed in Afghanistan
Kabul, June 29: At least 11 soldiers were killed and four injured in a Taliban ambush in Afghanistan, said officials on Monday.
"The Taliban ambushed a convoy of soldiers in Karukh district of Herat on Sunday, killing 11 Afghan army soldiers riding in pickup trucks, Al-Jazeera reported citing army spokesperson Najibullah Najibi as saying.
Taliban launched its annual spring-summer offensive named "Azm" (Determination) in late April, vowing nationwide attacks. This summer is expected to be bloodiest summer for a decade.
Taliban militants have increased their attacks on Afghan security forces since launching their annual spring offensive.
