Syria: Massive blast near Damascus airport

A massive blast hit an area near Damascus International Airport on Thursday, said reports.

Reports also suggest that a fire followed the blast in the area. The blast is said to have taken place after an ammunition depot used by Iranian-backed forces was hit in a strike.

Thousands of people have died and lakhs rendered homeless in Syria due to civil war in the country for over five years.

The conflict between forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad and those opposing to his rule have caused widespread devastation in the country.
