Syria: 10 executed by Jihadists for homosexuality

Beirut, Sept 24: Close to 10 men and a child were executed by the Jihadists in Syria for performing homosexual activities. As per the video posted by the Islamic State, six of the victims were shown to be kneeling, surrounded by a group of masked men in al-Rastan region, which is in the north of the central province of Homs.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), one of the men read out a statement citing reasons for the execution. It explained that the defendants confessed of homosexuality and drug addiction, which is why the Supreme Court of Homs has sentenced them to death. Then the six men were shot by the executioners.

Apart from this, they also slaughtered two men and a boy from the town of Hreitan, in the northern province of Aleppo. The executions were carried out in public, but videos were not allowed to be taken.Apart from homosexuality, witchcraft and loyalty to President Bashar al-Assad are also considered capital punishment offences in IS-controlled areas.
