Sweden School Shooting: 5 People Shot At Örebro School
A shooting at a school in Örebro, located approximately 200 kilometers (124 miles) west of Stockholm, has left five people injured, according to police. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, shortly before 13:00 local time, prompting a large-scale emergency response.
Authorities have described the situation as "very serious," with police classifying the incident as an attempted murder, arson, and aggravated weapons offense. Swedish Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer, speaking to SVT Örebro, confirmed that the government is in close contact with local authorities as the response unfolds. "This is a deeply concerning situation, and we are monitoring it closely," he said.
Initial police reports indicated that four people had been shot, but minutes later, authorities updated the number to five. Images from the scene showed a significant police presence, with multiple ambulances and emergency vehicles deployed to the school.
