The typhoon, China's 11th of the year, caused widespread damage, disrupting transportation and communication networks. President Xi Jinping has called for intensified disaster relief efforts in response to the devastation.

High-speed rail services in Hainan are set to resume on Saturday afternoon, while ferry services across the Qiongzhou Strait are expected to restart by Sunday evening. Haikou Meilan International Airport will remain closed until noon on Sunday, and Sanya Phoenix International Airport will begin a gradual resumption of flights on Saturday morning.

Rescue teams are working around the clock to restore communication networks, as more than 12,500 base stations were damaged in Hainan. In Guangdong province, nearly 730,000 people were evacuated by midday on Saturday, according to provincial authorities.

Western Guangdong experienced particularly heavy rainfall, with some areas receiving over 415 millimetres of precipitation. As the storm weakens, normal activities, including classes and public transportation, have resumed in several cities. More than 34,400 rescue personnel have been deployed to aid disaster relief efforts in cities such as Zhanjiang, Yangjiang, Jiangmen, and Maoming.

In the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, around 60,000 residents have been evacuated, with over 107,000 households left without power. Heavy rains and strong winds impacted more than 30 townships, and flood alerts remain in place due to rising water levels in several rivers.

China's National Meteorological Center renewed its red alert for Yagi on Saturday morning, warning of continued torrential rains in Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Guangdong, and Hainan until Sunday afternoon. Though the storm is weakening, authorities remain vigilant as recovery operations continue across the affected regions.
