Sundar Pichai Shares Big Highlights From PM Modi's Power-Packed CEO Roundtable
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is urging global tech leaders to ensure that Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology benefits the people of India, according to Google CEO Sundar Pichai. Following a roundtable meeting with PM Modi during his U.S. visit, Pichai highlighted the Prime Minister's commitment to leveraging AI for India's growth, as reported by NDTV.
"The Prime Minister has been deeply focused on transforming India through his Digital India vision," Pichai said. "He pushed us to continue designing and manufacturing in India. We're proud to now have our Pixel phones made in India. He is thinking about how AI can transform the country in healthcare, education, and agriculture."

Pichai noted that PM Modi is also focused on strengthening India's infrastructure, from data centers to energy, to ensure a smooth transition into the future. "We are proud to partner with India, and we are investing heavily in AI. We have several collaborations with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and other key ministries in agriculture and health at both central and state levels," Pichai added, as reported by NDTV.

During the roundtable, Pichai said PM Modi has consistently challenged them to do more for India, now asking the same of AI. "His vision is clear-he recognizes the opportunity AI presents but is determined to ensure it benefits the people of India."
The meeting, hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) School of Engineering in New York, brought together industry leaders including Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen, Accenture CEO Julie Sweet, AMD CEO Lisa Su, and others, as reported by NDTV.
Nvidia's Jensen Huang praised PM Modi, calling him an "incredible student" who is eager to learn more about emerging technologies like AI. "Artificial intelligence is a new industry, and we are excited to partner with India. We are collaborating with several companies, start-ups, and institutions like IITs," Huang said.
PM Modi shared his thoughts on the meeting in a post on X (formerly Twitter), describing it as a "fruitful roundtable" where they discussed technology, innovation, and India's advancements in the field. "I am glad to see immense optimism towards India," he remarked.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the roundtable focused on key areas such as artificial intelligence, quantum technology, biotechnology, and semiconductor manufacturing. PM Modi highlighted India's economic transformation in electronics, IT, biotech, and green development, emphasizing his government's commitment to making India a global semiconductor hub, as per media reports.
The Prime Minister also discussed India's "BIO E3" policy aimed at developing the country into a biotechnology powerhouse. On AI, he reiterated India's "AI for All" policy, which is centered around the ethical and responsible use of AI.
The tech leaders expressed strong interest in investing and collaborating with India, acknowledging the nation's growing prominence as a global technology hub, driven by innovation-friendly policies and abundant market opportunities.
