Caught On Camera: Suicide Bomber Blows Himself Up Near Turkish Parliament

The incident of a terrorist attack near Turkey's parliament in Ankara was recorded on CCTV on Sunday that left two police officers injured.

The colossal blast, trailed by extensive fires, could be heard several kilometres away from the site of the attack.

The video captures a van arriving at a security check post and two attackers initiate their attack. The two individuals, equipped with firearms and a rocket launcher, engage in a shootout with police officers. One of them suddenly explodes into a huge fireball as he charges towards a neighbouring guard house. Images revealed a forsaken missile launcher lying on the terrain and a severely wrecked van.

The Turkish Interior Ministry reported that two assailants, as displayed in the video, drove a commercial vehicle up to the main gate of the Ministry of Interior's Security Directorate and carried out a bomb attack.

The statement by the Ministry said, "One of the terrorists blew himself up and the other was neutralised," The ministry further added that two officers suffered minor injuries.

Turkish officials confirmed that one assailant committed suicide using an explosive, whereas the other was fatally shot by security personnel.

The bomb on Ataturk Boulevard was the first in Ankara since 2016.

Several ministries and the Turkish parliament, which was set to resume its operations today with a speech from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, are located in the district under focus, according to reports from Turkish media.

The officials informed that they were starting a probe and prohibited entry into the region.

The latest bombing incident in Turkey occurred on a retail street in Istanbul in November 2022, resulting in six fatalities and 81 injuries.
