Steve Buscemi Sent To Hospital With Minor Injuries After Unprovoked Attack In New York

Steve Buscemi, while out on the streets of New York in broad daylight, was attacked by an unknown assailant. As he was walking through Kips Bay, Buscemi was attacked unprovoked. He suffered swelling to his face as well as his left eye, and was promptly taken to a hospital.

Steve Buscemi wasn't the only victim of unprovoked attacks on the streets of New York this year.

On March 31st, Micheal Stuhlberg, who has played notable roles in 'Call Me By Your Name' and 'Boardwalk Empire', was also attacked by a homeless man with a rock. Stuhlberg managed to chase the assailant down, leading to his quick arrest after the incident.

Some other notable incidents also include Karen Fukahara from 'The Boys' and Rick Moranis from 'Ghostbusters' also being attacked unprovoked on the streets.

Steve Buscemi's assailant still remains at large.

In an email statement to NBC news, Steve Buscemi's publicist wrote, "Steve Buscemi was assaulted in Mid-Town Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city. He is ok and appreciates everyone's well wishes, though incredibly sad for everyone that this has happened to while also walking the streets of NY."

Steve Buscemi has worked on several films and series over his long career, such as 'Boardwalk Empire', 'Reservoir Dogs', and 'The Big Lebowski'. He's also a beloved public figure. On September 11th, 2001, despite working in the acting industry at the time, Buscemi returned to his old firefighting job and worked 12-hour shifts to save people at the World Trade Centre, reported The Independent.

While it can be said that anybody can be a victim of an unprovoked assault, celebrities and public being assaulted in broad daylight sparks major concerns for the other denizens. If beloved actors and public figures like Buscemi aren't safe, what does that say about the safety of the common folk?
