Speculations rife and Kim Jong Un goes missing again

Kim Jong Un who took over the supreme leader of North Korea following his father’s death in 2011 has been accused of doing very little for the country’s economy

Pyongyang, Feb 07: North Korea's President, Kim Jong Un has not been seen in public for an over a month, reports said.

NK News, a South Korean-based outlet reported that Kim Jong Un skipped a politburo meeting on Sunday and this is the third time has done so.

His prolonged disappearances have raised questions once again about his health. However his longest ever break from pubic appearances was in 2014, when he was not see for 40 days.

Reports about him not being seen come in the wake of North Korea readying to hold mass military parades this week. The parade celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Korean People's Army and is expected to be held on Tuesday or Wednesday.

A Fox News report said that usually Kim Jong Un has used such events to speak about North Korea's nuclear weapons and missiles programmes.

Reuters had reported last week that North Korea had threatened to counter moves by the United States with the 'most overwhelming nuclear force,' while condemning Washington's plans to expand its joint exercises with South Korea and also deploy more advanced military assets.

In 2022 alone, North Korea fired over 70 ballistic missiles including potential nuclear-capable weapons designed to strike targets in South Korea or reach US mainland. North Korea also conducted several launches which it describes as simulated nuclear attacks on South Korean and US targets in response to the enhanced military drills the US and South Korea are undertaking.

Kim Jong UN's health card:

In recent years, the condition of Kim Jong Un's health has been spoken about in various media outlets. Since there is no official confirmation about this, it is very hard to say exactly about the condition the North Korea leader is suffering from. The state media has not reported on his activities for many weeks, which is unusual in the case of Kim Jong Un who is typically very visible in the media.

Kim Jong Un who is also the Commander of the Korean People's Army took after the death of his father Kim Jong II in 2011. He has pursued the policy of nuclear weapons and has overseen many nuclear and missile tests. This has increasingly caused tensions with the international community.

Kim Jong Un has also made few efforts towards economic reforms and improving North Korea's relations with other countries, especially with South Korea and the United States.
