South Korean ferry death toll touches 100

Jindo (South Korea), April 22: A week after the

ferry sank, coast guard officers on Tuesday carried the newly rescued bodies in white sheets taking the death toll to 104.

Divers on the weekend found a way to enter the submerged ferry and ever since the death count has gone up. Officials confirmed that the death toll as of Tuesday was 104.

The next step will be identification of the bodies. Officials say that if a body cannot be identified, details are given such as the height, hair length, clothes on a white signboard for the families to identify.

Meanwhile a scuffle broke out between the grieving realtives and police. Nearly 200 relatives of the missing passegngers on the ferry took part in a protest March on Sunday but they were blocked by policemen and had to turn back.
