He was approached by an unknown man and an altercation followed. The victim told the police that he was told to go back to his own country before he was shot at.

The victim said that the shooter was a 6 foot tall man and was wearing a mask. The Kent police have reached out to the FBI for assistance in tracking down the shooter.

The victim is out of danger and has been released from hospital. Jasmit Singh, the leader of the Sikh community in Renton said that the victim is shaken up. We're all kind of at a loss in terms of what's going on right now, this is just bringing it home. The climate of hate that has been created doesn't distinguish between anyone."

In a statement Saturday, the Sikh Coalition, a New York-based civil rights group, asked local and federal authorities to investigate the shooting as a hate crime, the Seattle Times said while quoting Singh.
