Before the ceremony, Navjot Singh Sidhu hugged and exchanged pleasantries with Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

Sidhu said he had brought a Kashmiri shawl as a gift for "Khan sahib".

Pakistan Prime Minister-elect Imran Khan had invited his two other contemporaries on the Indian side, Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar also. But both decided to skip the ceremony, reportedly citing prior engagements.

Imran Khan took oath as 22nd Prime Minister of Pakistan around three weeks after his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf emerged as the single-largest party in the country's election.

Khan won a simple majority in Pakistan's National Assembly with 176 votes, beating his rival Shahbaz Sharif who got 96 votes.
