Sheikh Hasina s Escape Route From Bangladesh Full And Final Wrap-Up In 45-Minute

The Escalating Crisis In Bangladesh

On Monday, the situation in Dhaka deteriorated rapidly. Tens of thousands of protestors, advancing from the outskirts of the capital, surrounded Gonobhobon, demanding Hasina's resignation. With the crowd closing in, the former Prime Minister had only 45 minutes to pack and leave.

In the midst of the unfolding crisis, Hasina was pressured to choose between escalating violence or making a swift exit. The scene was set for a dramatic escape.

Efforts to Retain Power

Hasina's last hours in Dhaka were marked by intense discussions and attempts to maintain her grip on power. Meetings with top officials, including the chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, were held at Gonobhobon. Despite urging for a stricter response to the protesters, Hasina's directives were increasingly futile as the situation worsened.

An hour of high-level consultations revealed the unsustainable nature of using force. Hasina's frustration was palpable as she questioned the failure of security forces to control the situation.

Family Intervention

Amidst the growing unrest, Hasina's younger sister, Rehana, was brought in to persuade her. Despite initial resistance, a phone call from her son, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, who was abroad, ultimately convinced her to resign. Joy's intervention played a crucial role in Hasina's final decision to leave.

The Escape Route

With time running out, Hasina's plan to record a farewell message was thwarted. The advancing protesters meant there was no time for such formalities. Instead, she was given 45 minutes to prepare for her departure.

Sheikh Hasina and her sister, Rehana, made their way to the Tejgaon Air Base, where their belongings were hastily loaded onto a helicopter. After resigning formally at Bangabhaban, the Presidential residence, Hasina's helicopter took off, landing first in Agartala, India.

At 5:36 pm IST, the helicopter arrived at the Indian Air Force's Hindon Air Base near New Delhi. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and other Indian officials welcomed her. It is anticipated that Hasina may continue her journey to London from Delhi.

A New Chapter for Bangladesh Ahead?

Hasina's departure marks the end of a significant era in Bangladeshi politics. The dramatic final hours of her rule in Dhaka reflect the tumultuous nature of her governance and the urgency of her escape. As Bangladesh faces a new chapter, the political vacuum left by Hasina's exit opens possibilities for the country's future.
