Secret Service Scandal: Agent Fired For Security Breach At Obama’s Hawaii Home
A US Secret Service agent, who was assigned to protect former President Barack Obama and his family, has been fired after allegedly violating security protocols and compromising national security.
The breach occurred in 2022 when the agent, referred to as "Dale" in a memoir by his former girlfriend Koryeah Dwanyen, took her to the Obama's private beachfront property in Hawaii while the family was away. This revelation has stirred significant concern over the Secret Service’s security measures.

The details of the incident came to light in Dwanyen’s memoir, Undercover Heartbreak: A Memoir of Trust and Trauma, which was released on October 28, 2024. In her account, Dwanyen described how the agent invited her to the Obama family's residence without proper authorization. During their visit, the agent allegedly suggested they engage in sexual activity in former First Lady Michelle Obama's bathroom, likening the act to the “mile-high club.” Dwanyen claims that the agent acknowledged the potential risks involved, stating, “No one will know. If anything, I’m the one who could get in trouble.”
The breach occurred on November 6, 2022, and was discovered after the Secret Service became aware of the unauthorized access. As a result, the agent was immediately suspended and, following an investigation, was terminated from his position. Secret Service officials, including Anthony Guglielmi, the Chief of Communications, expressed strong disapproval of the agent’s actions, calling them a clear violation of protocols, trust, and the agency's core principles. Guglielmi stated, “These actions were an unacceptable violation of our protocols, our protectees’ trust, and everything we stand for.”
The relationship between Dwanyen and the agent began in 2022 during her vacation in Martha’s Vineyard, where she met him while he was working as part of the security team for the Obamas. Initially, the agent told Dwanyen that he had been divorced for years, but she later discovered that he was still married. This revelation adds a layer of complexity to the story, as it highlights the agent’s misleading behavior beyond the security breach.
The scandal has raised serious concerns about the integrity of the US Secret Service, especially regarding how a member of the security detail could gain unauthorized access to a protected property. This incident underscores the risks posed when security protocols are ignored, especially for high-profile figures like the Obamas. As the investigation into the breach continues, the repercussions for the Secret Service and its ability to maintain the safety and privacy of its protectees remain a key issue.
