'Sara and I Were Shocked': Netanyahu Condemns Second Assassination Attempt on Donald Trump
Netanyahu Responds to Failed Assassination
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed shock and concern following a second assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump at his golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida. In a tweet, Netanyahu and his wife Sarah shared their relief that the attempt had failed but emphasised that such incidents cannot be left to luck. "We send our best wishes to Donald and Melania along with our hopes that all measures will be taken to ensure such deadly attacks on a candidate for the US presidency will be foiled in advance," the Israeli leader said.

Trump Thanks Secret Service for Protection
Former President Donald Trump took to social media to thank the US Secret Service and law enforcement agencies for their swift action. He acknowledged Sheriff Ric Bradshaw and his office, as well as the dedication of those protecting him during the attack. Trump, the Republican nominee for the upcoming presidential election, was unharmed in the incident, but emphasised the importance of security for high-profile political figures.
"I would like to thank everyone for your concern and well wishes - It was certainly an interesting day!" Trump said. He expressed gratitude for the work done by the Secret Service, law enforcement, and his team for keeping him safe, adding that they played a critical role in ensuring his protection during what could have been a catastrophic event.
Kamala Harris Condemns Political Violence
Vice President Kamala Harris also reacted strongly to the incident, issuing a statement condemning political violence. Harris said she was "deeply disturbed" by the apparent attempt on Trump's life, and praised law enforcement for their vigilance. "I am thankful that former President Trump is safe. I commend the U.S. Secret Service and law enforcement partners for their vigilance," she said.
Harris echoed President Biden's commitment to ensuring the Secret Service is equipped with the necessary resources to protect public officials, particularly those running in presidential elections. "We all must do our part to ensure that this incident does not lead to more violence," Harris warned, signalling the need for a broader response to prevent further acts of political violence.
Political Landscape Shaken by Violence
The assassination attempt has raised concerns over the rising tide of political violence in the United States, especially with Trump being a prominent figure in the 2024 Presidential Election. This incident marks the second attempt on his life in recent times, with the first attempt made on his life in June this year.
