The ATR-72 aircraft, operated by Voepass Linhas Aéreas, was en route from Cascavel, Paraná, to Guarulhos in São Paulo when the accident occurred, according to local news outlet G1.

The airline VoePass confirmed in a statement that a plane headed for Sao Paulo's international airport Guarulhos crashed with 62 passengers and 4 crew members aboard. The statement didn't say what caused the accident.

Widespread video footage on social media captured the plane's descent into a dense forest, followed by a large plume of black smoke from the crash site. Local TV station GloboNews broadcasted footage of the plane spiraling before impact.
Firefighters have confirmed the crash, but information regarding casualties or survivors is still pending. The crash site is reported to be ablaze, with smoke rising from the remains of the aircraft.
