India's External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, expressed a sense of pride in India's traditions, culture, and history during his visit to Nigeria. Addressing the Indian community in Nigeria, Jaishankar emphasized that India stands as one of the few civilizations that have endured as a modern nation.

India's Message to the World
Jaishankar conveyed a message to the world that India is not only a nation with a rich past but also a nation that takes pride in its heritage. He highlighted India's developmental progress, noting the sense of nation-building and the influx of investments.
Strengthening Ties with Nigeria
During his visit, Jaishankar discussed strengthening ties with Nigeria. He mentioned the existing business volume between the two countries, which stands at approximately USD 12-15 billion. Jaishankar invited Nigerian investors to explore opportunities in India, particularly in sectors where India has demonstrated strong growth, such as pharmaceuticals and medical devices.
Bilateral Engagements
Jaishankar's visit to Nigeria included several key engagements. He co-chaired the sixth India-Nigeria Joint Commission Meeting with his Nigerian counterpart and met with other leaders. Additionally, he inaugurated the third edition of the Nigeria-India Business Council meeting, delivered a speech at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, interacted with business delegates, and unveiled a bust of Mahatma Gandhi.
India-Nigeria Relations
India and Nigeria have traditionally enjoyed close and friendly relations. Jaishankar's visit to Nigeria marked his first official visit to the country, further solidifying the bilateral ties between the two nations.
