Is Russian President Vladimir Putin richest man in the world?

Moscow, Jan 29: If reports are to be believed then Russian President Vladimir Putin may be one of the richest men in the world.

According to reports, Putin is said to have secretly amassed £140 billion fortune. The amount is more than double then the wealth owned by the Microsoft chief Bill Gates personally. This has been claimed by his critic.

Although in 2014 he declared his income 7.65 million roubles ($119,000) and mentioned the ownership of two modest apartments and a share in a car parking garage.

According to report, he spent money meant for healthcare, to build his palace on the Black Sea coast. The palace was built during the first tenure as president.

He also an investment of up to $440 million, reported the Independent citing Kremlin insider as saying.
Putin repeatedly dismissed claims he is super-rich.

In February 2008 he said: "Its simply rubbish. they just picked out all out of someones nose and smeared it across their little papers."
