Russian Air Defence Stops Massive Drone Raid on Putin’s Home, Retaliation Imminent

Russia has accused Ukraine of attempting a coordinated drone strike on a residence linked to President Vladimir Putin in the Novgorod region. The allegation was made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who described the event as a large-scale offensive involving dozens of unmanned aircraft.

Lavrov claimed that Russian air-defence forces intercepted every drone before it reached the presidential estate, crediting security units for preventing what he called a deliberate attempt to target the country's top leadership. According to his remarks, carried by Russian media agencies, a total of 91 drones were reportedly involved in the operation.

The foreign minister sharply condemned the alleged strike, labelling it an act of "state-sponsored terrorism" and warning that Moscow's response would be uncompromising. He said that retaliatory military actions have already been identified and that the timing of such steps will be determined by Russian armed forces. No further specifics were shared about where or when the response could occur.

Lavrov also suggested that the reported incident would influence how Russia engages in any future dialogue with Kyiv, hinting that upcoming conditions for peace discussions may become more stringent.
