Russian President Putin will be assassinated by his own men: Zelensky

"They will find a reason to kill the killer," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will be assassinated by his own inner circle for the way he handled the Ukraine-Russia war, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has claimed.

He made the said comments in the documentary 'Year' by journalist Dmytro Komarov. "There will certainly be a moment when the fragility of Putin's regime is felt in Russia," The Times of Israel cited a translation provided by the online newspaper Ukrainska Pravda.

"Then carnivores will eat the carnivore. It is very important, and they will need a reason to justify this. They will recall the words of Komarov, of Zelensky...They will remember. They will find a reason to kill the killer. Will it work? Yes. When? I don't know," he said in the documentary released on Friday to mark a year since the start of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

His comments come at a time when a report in Washington Post claimed that the Russian President's closest allies are growing increasingly frustrated with him as the video clips from the war zone showed their soldiers complaining and crying. "There is huge frustration among the people around him. He clearly doesn't know what to do," a Russian billionaire, who has links with top-ranking officials, was quoted as saying who has ties with top-ranking officials told the newspaper.

On the other hand, the said development is unlikely to come true as many top officials owe their position to Putin, according to a report in the UK-based website Independent.

Despite being the most sanctioned country in the world (over 30 countries including the US, the UK, EU member states, Canada, Australia and others) the Russian economy has held ground.

Meanwhile, Zelensky, in a post shared on his Telegram channel on Sunday, vowed to keep fighting. "This is our land. Our people. Our history. We will return the Ukrainian flag to every corner of Ukraine," Zelensky wrote.
