Russia accuses US of being behind Kremlin drone attack

Russia claimed that the US helped Ukraine plot and carry out an alleged drone attack on the Kremlin, which they labelled as an assassination attempt on the president Vladimir Putin.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov asserted on Thursday that Ukraine was carrying out plans directed by Washington, but did not offer any evidence to support these accusations.

Russia accuses US of being behind Kremlin drone ‘attack’

"Attempts to disown this, both in Kyiv and in Washington, are, of course, absolutely ridiculous. We know very well that decisions about such actions, about such terrorist attacks, are made not in Kyiv but in Washington," Peskov said, according to comments reported by Reuters.

Dmitry Peskov also emphasized that decisions regarding such actions were not made in Kyiv, but rather in Washington, and that the United States should be aware that Russia is cognizant of this fact.

"This is also often dictated from across the ocean. We know this well and are aware of this ... In Washington they must clearly understand that we know this."

Earlier, Ukraine said that it has 'nothing to do' with an alleged drone attack on the Kremlin that Russian authorities say targeted President Vladimir Putin.

Russia said that it had shot down two drones in the Russian capital. The Kremlin decried the alleged attack attempt as a 'terrorist act' and said Russian military and security forces 'disabled' the drones before they could strike. It did not elaborate.
