The think tank 'Research and Development International' will focus on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor research and development but that's not an issue, it is the acronymy that takes the cake. Actually, the short form of the think tank is 'RANDI' which, in Hindi, means prostitute.
Though nobody from Pakistan raised any objections to the short form but #Randi surely caught up the attention of the Twitteratis. From Randi mat Kaho (Don't call me prostitute) jokes to 'La Whore' are trending on the social networking site.
"Well, that's an unfortunate name for a think tank...," Fatima Bhutto, a well known Pakistani poet and writer, tweeted.
Senior journalist Shekhar Gupta tweeted,"It took joint Pak-Chinese imagination to produce this marvellous 5-letter disaster of ACRONYMOLOGICAL proportions."
Following are some of the tweets making fun of the name.
Not surprised that China and Pakistan's economic think tank is called RANDI.China has always been a Red Light Area.#MaoZeDONG— Sorabh Pant (@hankypanty) April 20, 2015
