Putin Congratulates Trump Ahead Of Inauguration, Says Open For Talks On Ukraine, Nuclear Arms
Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated US President-elect Donald Trump ahead of his inauguration in Washington.
Putin expressed his willingness to engage in dialogue with the Trump administration on issues such as Ukraine and nuclear arms.

He also voiced hopes for "lasting peace" in the Ukraine conflict under Trump's leadership.
"We welcome Trump's desire to restore direct contacts with Russia and prevent war there," Putin told Russia's security council.
Earlier, Putin had congratulated Trump on his victory in the US presidential election, stating, "I take this opportunity to congratulate him."
Meanwhile, US President-elect Trump had instructed his aides to arrange a call with Putin in the days following his swearing-in, according to CNN, citing undisclosed sources.
Trump had previously mentioned his intention to meet with Putin "very quickly" after his inauguration.
The Kremlin welcomed Trump's remarks but noted that no preparations were being made for the meeting at present.
