Ro Khanna Proudly Supports Kamala Harris Despite Electoral Setback
Following a significant electoral loss, Indian American Congressman Ro Khanna expressed pride in Vice President Kamala Harris. He believes that Americans will eventually acknowledge her pioneering efforts. Harris, as the Democratic presidential candidate, was defeated by Republican Donald Trump in the November 5 elections. "Today, I want to say I am proud of Kamala Harris," stated Khanna, who represents Silicon Valley in the US House of Representatives.
Khanna, who was re-elected for a fifth term on Tuesday, shared his reflections on Harris's candidacy. Growing up in Pennsylvania, he never imagined an African and Indian American woman would become a presidential nominee and secure 48% of the vote in his home state. "Progress is hard," he noted, adding that one day Americans will recognise her trailblazing role.

Democrats' Future Prospects
Despite the Democrats losing control of the White House, Senate, and House of Representatives, Khanna remains optimistic about their future. He cited historical precedents to support his belief that the party can recover. "In 1928, the Republicans had 56 Senators," he explained. "By 1932, under FDR’s Franklin D Roosevelt leadership, it was reduced to 36."
Khanna emphasised that the Democrats could regain their footing with a strong economic vision focused on working-class Americans' needs. He believes this approach will resonate with voters and help the party make a comeback.
Khanna's comments reflect his confidence in both Harris's legacy and the Democratic Party's resilience. His remarks highlight the importance of perseverance and adaptation in political landscapes.
