Extremist Group Member Found Unconscious After Fleeing Sentencing
A member of the Proud Boys extremist group who disappeared prior to his sentencing for involvement in the US Capitol riot has been found unconscious. The man, Christopher Worrell, had returned covertly to his home when he was discovered by federal agents.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has found Christopher Worrell, a member of the extremist group Proud Boys, unconscious at his home in Naples, Florida. The FBI reported on September 29 that Worrell had disappeared days before he was due to be sentenced for his involvement in the U.S Capitol riot. After attempting to "covertly return" to his residence, federal agents discovered him and immediately provided medical attention.
Disappearance and Search

Worrell had been under house arrest when he vanished last month ahead of his sentencing in Washington. For weeks, authorities diligently searched for him as prosecutors readied their case seeking a 14-year prison sentence for assault charges, obstruction of Congress and other offenses tied to the Capitol insurrection.
Sudden Discovery
Federal agents swiftly surrounded and entered Worrell's home upon his unexpected return on Thursday. They found him unconscious with no immediate details provided about his condition by the FBI’s Tampa office. He was subsequently taken to a hospital where he remained as of Friday.
Evidence Found at Scene
In addition to finding Worrell incapacitated, agents also uncovered night-vision goggles, USD 4,000 in cash and survivalist gear within his home premises. This discovery could potentially add more weight to the prosecution's case against him given its implication towards premeditative actions related to evasion or further illegal activities.
No Comment from Defense Counsel
William Shipley, who is representing Worrell legally did not respond immediately when contacted via phone message on Friday for comments regarding this development. It remains unclear how this will impact their defense strategy or if they were aware of Worrell's covert attempt at returning home while evading authorities.
Prior to these events unfolding recently,Worrell had been released from jail in Washington in November 2021, less than a month after a judge's ruling. The specifics of the conditions surrounding his release were not provided.
In conclusion, this incident marks yet another chapter in the ongoing saga of legal proceedings and investigations related to the US Capitol riot. It underscores the seriousness with which authorities are pursuing those who played roles in that day's events. As for Worrell, it remains to be seen how these recent events will impact his sentencing and what additional charges may be levied against him given the items discovered at his home. The case continues to unfold as more information becomes available.
