President Droupadi Murmu to Inaugurate New Cancer Hospital in Karnataka on December 30

An Indian-American doctor has generously donated his family's wealth to establish a cancer hospital in rural Karnataka, India. President Droupadi Murmu is set to inaugurate this facility. Dr. Sampat Shivangi expressed his excitement, stating, "Honourable President of India, Droupadi Murmu, has accepted the invitation and will inaugurate the newly built Dr Sampat Kumar S. Shivangi Cancer Hospital on December 30 in Belagavi, Karnataka."

Murmu to Open New Cancer Hospital in Karnataka

Dr. Shivangi shared his deep connection to the project, saying, "What an honour, the President of India will be inaugurating my dream facility, a most memorable and modern hospital in Belgaum, my home district, and at the medical college where I was an Assistant Professor." His journey from being a student to a medical professional inspired him to give back to his roots.

Efforts to Establish the Hospital

Reflecting on his past experiences, Dr. Shivangi mentioned, "Having lived in India for three decades, in not so privileged and progressive parts of the world, it always touched my heart and Atma why so, and why not we all have an equal playing field on the Earth." His time spent in hospitals as a student and staff member motivated him to address healthcare disparities.

Dr. Shivangi's determination led him back to Karnataka with a mission to build a cancer hospital. He formed a committee and sought funds for this cause. Despite initial setbacks, he persevered. "Made several trips to India and struggled to do something good, but returned home empty-handed," he recounted.

A Dream Realised

His persistence paid off when he found an opportunity in his district to create a world-class facility. "I did not want to let it go," he said. After collaborating with local authorities and making numerous trips to India, Dr. Sampat Kumar S Shivangi Cancer Hospital became a reality.

As a prominent leader within the Indian-American community, Dr. Shivangi hopes others will follow his example. He encourages fellow Indo-American physicians to join this movement for positive change. "My humble request is that let us be the change, and bring this movement to make our world different tomorrow," he urged.

Dr. Shivangi's vision extends beyond just building a hospital; he dreams of a better world for all humanity. He concluded with hope: "I hope my prayers will be answered one day and all humanity lives in a better world."
