Pope Francis Shares Views On Kamala Harris, Donald Trump: 'Both Are Against Life'

Pope Francis expressed strong views regarding the two leading candidates for the upcoming US presidential election, criticising both for their stances on life-related issues.

Speaking to reporters while returning from a 12-day tour of Asia, Francis said, "Both are against life. The one who discards migrants and the one who kills children. Both are against life."

The Pope specifically addressed Donald Trump's anti-immigrant policies and Kamala Harris's support for abortion rights, saying, "Both sending migrants away and not giving them the ability to work or welcoming them is a sin, it is serious."

He acknowledged that Trump's promise to round up and deport illegal immigrants contrasts with his role in paving the way for the Supreme Court's overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022. Harris, on the other hand, has pledged to restore the right to abortion.

When asked to choose between the candidates, Francis emphasised the moral complexity of the decision: "One has to choose the lesser of two evils. Who is the lesser evil? That lady or that gentleman? I don't know. Everyone have to think and make this decision according to their conscience."

While making it clear that he would not be voting in the US, Francis highlighted the gravity of both issues as deeply ethical concerns.
