PM Modi and President Biden Highlight Stronger India-US Partnership During Recent Meeting
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently met with US President Joe Biden in Greenville, Delaware. This meeting was described as highly productive, with both leaders discussing regional and global matters. Modi expressed gratitude to Biden for hosting him at his residence. The discussions focused on strengthening the India-US partnership, which Biden described as "stronger, closer, and more dynamic than any time in history."

Modi's visit to the US included participation in the Quad summit alongside leaders from Australia and Japan. The Quad, a group advocating for a free and inclusive Indo-Pacific, is seen by Beijing as an anti-China alliance. The summit aimed to introduce initiatives to enhance cooperation in the region and address conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza.
Strengthening Bilateral Ties
The meeting between Modi and Biden was part of efforts to deepen the Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership between India and the US. Modi highlighted the importance of identifying new pathways for collaboration that benefit both nations and contribute to global welfare. The talks also covered issues related to the Indo-Pacific region.
US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan had indicated that the Ukraine conflict would be a significant topic during the bilateral discussions. Modi's recent visit to Kyiv was expected to be part of these talks. The meeting was attended by key officials from both countries, including External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
Engagements with Global Leaders
During his visit, Modi planned separate meetings with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. These discussions were part of the broader agenda of the Quad summit, which seeks peaceful solutions to ongoing global conflicts. The Quad leaders were also set to announce a major initiative addressing cancer treatment and prevention.
Modi's arrival in the US was marked by a warm reception from the Indian diaspora at Philadelphia International Airport. He interacted with people dressed in traditional attire, signing autographs and shaking hands. Modi acknowledged their contributions to various sectors in the USA and expressed delight in engaging with them.
Upcoming Events and Initiatives
Following his engagements in Wilmington, Modi is scheduled to travel to New York for an Indian community event on Long Island on September 22. He will also address the Summit of the Future at the UN General Assembly. This summit aims to create a new international consensus for improving humanity's future.
Modi's itinerary includes participating in a round table with CEOs of American companies involved in advanced technologies like AI and quantum computing. He emphasized the importance of these interactions for enhancing the partnership between India and the US, highlighting their role as key stakeholders.
The Summit of the Future will bring together global leaders to discuss strategies for ensuring a better present and safeguarding future generations. Modi plans to share insights representing one-sixth of humanity, focusing on peace and security as crucial global priorities.
