PM Modi To Address COP28 World Climate Action Summit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the 28th Edition of the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) in Dubai's UAE shortly. This will be the second time in the last three years that PM Modi will be addressing the world showcasing India's commitment to conserve the environment. The summit will be held from November 30 to December 12, 2023.
The event will serve as a platform to reaffirm India's accomplishments within the G20 in environmental conservation, featuring discussions on climate finance, the Green Credit initiative, and LeadIT.

PM Modi arrived in Dubai last night marking his sixth visit to the United Arab Emirates. He was welcomed with the chants of 'Jai Shree Ram' overseas. According to the schedule shared by the ministry, the Prime Minister will also attend a high-level event co-hosted by India and the UAE.
Among the notable attendees joining PM Modi are UK PM Rishi Sunak, US Vice President Kamala Harris, and King Charles III, all set to partake in the climate conference.
The Conference began on November 30 with a speech by the COP28 president Sultan al-Jaber. In his speech, Al-Jaber asked the world leaders to join hands to cut down on emissions, triple renewable power capacity, and double energy efficiency, stating as the key goals of the UAE as hosts.
With an aim to reduce methane emissions to zero by 2030, Al-Jaber also promised to "unlock finance to ensure the global south does not have to choose between development and climate action, " the CNN quoted COP28 president.
