PM Modi, Rishi Sunak, Other World Leaders Condemn Attack On Israel By Hamas| Details
World leaders united in condemnation of the unprecedented rocket attacks launched by the Palestinian armed group Hamas against Israel on Saturday, 7th October, resulting in the tragic loss of 22 Israeli lives and injuries to 545 people.
In response to the attacks, Israel declared a 'state of war' as it faced multiple infiltrations and rocket strikes from the Gaza Strip. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a video statement, asserting that Israel was now in a state of war and vowing that Hamas would "pay the price" for its actions.

INDIA: Expressing his deep concern, Prime Minister Narendra Modi voiced his solidarity with Israel, denouncing the "terrorist attacks" that had occurred. He conveyed his condolences on his social media handle X saying, "Deeply shocked by the news of terrorist attacks in Israel. Our thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with Israel at this difficult hour."
BRITAIN: British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak also decried the attacks by "Hamas terrorists" and emphasized Israel's right to self-defense. He stated, "I am shocked by this morning's attacks by Hamas terrorists against Israeli citizens. Israel has an absolute right to defend itself. We're in contact with Israeli authorities, and British nationals in Israel should follow travel advice."
TURKEY: Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan called for restraint from both Israelis and Palestinians, urging them to avoid actions that could escalate tensions further. "We call for restraint from all parties," Erdogan stated at a congress for his ruling AK Party in Ankara. "They must refrain from aggressive acts."
FRANCE: French President Emmanuel Macron expressed solidarity with Israel and condemned the attacks by Hamas. Macron stated, "I strongly condemn the current terrorist attacks against Israel. I express my full solidarity with the victims, their families, and loved ones." he wrote on his social media handle X.
Even European Council President Charles Michel condemned Hamas's actions and said that the European Union "stands in solidarity with the Israeli people".
EGYPT: Egypt issued a warning about the "grave consequences" of an escalation in tensions between Israel and the Palestinians. In a statement by the foreign ministry Egypt called for maximum restraint to protect civilians and "avoiding exposing civilians to further danger".
GERMANY: German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock condemned the Hamas attack and reiterated support for Israel's right to self-defense. She said, "Violence and rockets against innocent civilians must stop now. We stand in full solidarity with Israel and its right under international law to defend itself against terror" as quoted by a report in India Today.
RUSSIA: Russia maintained contact with Israel, the Palestinians, and Arab countries, emphasizing the importance of restraint to avoid further escalation as per a report in the Interfax news agency. Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov was quoted saying, "It goes without saying that we always call for restraint,"
UKRAINE: The Ukrainian foreign ministry expressed support for Israel's right to defend itself and condemned the "ongoing terrorist attacks against Israel" including rocket attacks on its civilian population in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem."We express our support for Israel in its right to defend itself and its people," said the foreign ministry statement.
BELGIUM: Belgium's Foreign Affairs Minister Hadja Lahbib called for an end to violence, emphasizing the need for dialogue. "Belgium strongly condemns the massive rocket attacks against Israeli civilians. Violence and terror only perpetuates suffering and hinders the path to dialogue. Our thoughts are with all those affected. We are monitoring the situation closely," said Lahbib as per news reports.
GREECE: Greece expressed deep concern over the escalating violence and stood with Israel. The Greek Foreign Ministry posted on social media handle X, "Greece strongly condemns today's launch of heavy rocket attacks from Gaza against Israel. Greece stands with Israel and is deeply concerned by this unacceptable escalation of violence,"
