Prime Minister Narendra Modi received Namibia's highest civilian honour, the 'Order of the Most Ancient Welwitschia Mirabilis', during his visit to the southern African country. Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah presented the award, acknowledging Modi's role in strengthening bilateral relations.
The Namibian President expressed, "By the power vested in me by the Namibian Constitution, I have the honour to confer the Order of the Most Ancient Welwitschia Mirabilis to Narendra Modi, PM of India who has significantly contributed to social-economic development and the promotion of peace and justice in Namibia and globally."

Strengthening Bilateral Ties
This accolade marks the 27th international recognition for Prime Minister Modi from a foreign government since he took office in May 2014. The award highlights his efforts in fostering global partnerships and promoting peace.
During his visit, PM Modi engaged in bilateral talks with President Nandi-Ndaitwah. Following these discussions, India and Namibia signed four significant agreements aimed at boosting collaboration in energy and healthcare sectors.
Historic Visit
Modi's trip to Namibia is notable as it is the first by an Indian Prime Minister. It also marks only the third prime ministerial visit from India to this nation. His arrival was part of a broader five-nation tour.
The agreements signed between India and Namibia are expected to enhance cooperation and mutual growth. These pacts signify a commitment to working together for shared benefits in crucial areas.
