Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Doha, Qatar on Wednesday evening for a crucial meeting with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. This marks Modi's second visit to Qatar as the Prime Minister since 2014, with his first visit taking place in June 2016.

A Whirlwind Trip to the UAE

Prior to his arrival in Qatar, Modi completed a two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where he engaged in various activities. He addressed a well-attended Indian diaspora event, participated in the prestigious World Governments Summit, and inaugurated the UAE's first Hindu stone temple.

Upon his arrival in Doha, Modi was warmly received by Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, at the airport. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) released a press release detailing the Prime Minister's schedule during his two-day visit.

Bilateral and Regional Discussions

During his stay in Qatar, Modi will attend a dinner hosted in his honor by Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. The following day, he is set to meet with the Amir of Qatar to discuss bilateral, regional, and global issues.

The MEA highlighted the significance of Modi's visit in further enhancing the historic and deep-rooted ties between India and Qatar. The wide-ranging talks with Qatari leadership aim to strengthen the bilateral partnership between the two nations.

Modi acknowledged the presence of over 800,000 Indian expatriates in Doha, emphasizing the strong people-to-people ties between India and Qatar. In addition to his meeting with the Amir, Modi is scheduled to engage with other high dignitaries during his visit.

Before departing for Qatar, Modi successfully concluded his visit to the UAE, where he made significant contributions to the ever-deepening India-UAE partnership. Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Saif B Zayed accorded a warm send-off to Modi at the airport.
