PM Modi Highlights Cricket's Role in Strengthening India-Caribbean Relations During Guyana Visit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the unique connection between India and the Caribbean through cricket during his meeting with notable cricket figures from the West Indies. This meeting took place in Georgetown, Guyana, alongside Guyanese President Irfaan Ali. The Ministry of External Affairs shared on X that the meeting was a significant moment of friendship.

Modi's visit to Guyana marks the first by an Indian head of state in over five decades. His arrival on Wednesday was part of a three-nation tour, which also included stops in Nigeria and Brazil. In Nigeria, Modi's visit was described as "productive," marking the first visit by an Indian prime minister to the country in 17 years.
Strengthening Ties Through Cricket
The Ministry of External Affairs shared photos from the meeting, emphasising Modi's statement about cricket being a unique bond between India and the Caribbean. The prime minister's engagement with cricket personalities underscores the sport's role in fostering people-to-people connections.
After Nigeria, Modi travelled to Brazil for the G20 Summit. There, he met with several global leaders, including US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. These meetings were part of his efforts to strengthen international relations.
