PM Modi expected to visit UAE on Aug 16-17, first Indian PM to do so in three decades

New Delhi/Dubai Aug 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to pay a two-day visit to UAE on August 16-17, media reported.

The official confirmation about the visit is yet to be announced. PM Modi will be first Indian prime minister to visit UAE in last 34 years after Indira Gandhi's visit in 1981.

PM Modi expected to visit UAE

Indian people residing in UAE eager to welcome him. A grand reception is being planned for him that is expected to draw more than 40,000 people, reported Khaleej Times.

The reception preparation is being spearheaded by the Indian Community Welfare Committee (ICWC).

According to reports, prime minister is scheduled to arrive in Dubai on August 16 and depart for Abu Dhabi on 17th morning and then return on the same day to Dubai for the public reception and other meetings in the afternoon.

The Indian community members in the UAE have been invited to attend and welcome PM Modi in large numbers by ICWC.

Modi's visit assumes great significance in the bilateral relations of the two countries and is anticipated to further boost the strong economic, cultural and social ties that exist between the third Asian economic powerhouse and the second largest Arab economy.

PM Modi's discussions with the UAE leaders will help galvanise more investments out flow from the UAE and other Gulf countries to India.
