Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with US President Joe Biden, who praised the India-US partnership as stronger and more dynamic than ever. The meeting took place during the Quad summit, where they discussed enhancing their bilateral relationship in various areas of mutual interest, according to Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal. They also exchanged views on global and regional issues, including the Indo-Pacific region.

Strengthening the India-US Partnership

Modi was welcomed by Biden at his residence in Greenville, Delaware, marking a warm start to the visit. The two leaders embraced before Biden led Modi into his home for their discussions. "The United States partnership with India is stronger, closer, and more dynamic than any time in history," Biden stated on X. "Prime Minister Modi, each time we sit down, I'm struck by our ability to find new areas of cooperation. Today was no different," he added.

Quad Summit and Bilateral Talks

The Quad summit hosted by President Biden in Wilmington aims to introduce new initiatives for cooperation in the Indo-Pacific. It also seeks peaceful solutions to conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza. The Quad, comprising four nations, promotes a free and inclusive Indo-Pacific. Beijing views it as an anti-China alliance. Modi expressed anticipation for joining leaders from Australia and Japan at the summit.

During the visit, Modi was accompanied by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and Indian Ambassador to the US Vinay Mohan Kwatra. The US delegation included Secretary of State Antony Blinken, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, and US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti. The meeting was held at Biden's residence as a special gesture.

Engagements with Global Leaders

Modi planned separate meetings with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida during the Quad Summit. The leaders are set to unveil an initiative addressing cancer's impact on patients and families. Modi's departure statement highlighted the forum's role in promoting peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific.

A large group of Indian diaspora welcomed Modi at Philadelphia International Airport before he travelled to Wilmington. He interacted with people dressed in traditional attire, signing autographs and shaking hands. "An energetic welcome in Philadelphia! Our diaspora's blessings are greatly cherished," Modi shared on X.

Upcoming Events and Future Plans

Following Wilmington, Modi will head to New York for an Indian community event on Long Island on September 22. He will address the Summit of the Future at the UN General Assembly the next day. His itinerary includes engaging with American business leaders working on advanced technologies like AI and quantum computing.

"I am eagerly looking forward to engaging with the Indian diaspora and important American business leaders," Modi said. "The Summit of the Future is an opportunity for the global community to chart the road ahead for humanity's betterment," he added. The summit aims to build a new international consensus for a better present and future.
