Planning For Hajj 2025? Here’s What You Must Know About New Rules

Saudi Arabia has announced that children will no longer be allowed to accompany pilgrims to the holy site for Hajj 2025, according to Network 18 report. The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah stated that the decision aims to ensure children's safety amid severe overcrowding during the pilgrimage.

"This step has been taken to ensure the safety and well-being of children and to mitigate any potential harm during the Hajj pilgrimage," the ministry said. It has also confirmed that priority for Hajj 2025 will be given to first-time pilgrims.

Hajj Registration And Packages

Registration for Hajj 2025 has officially begun. Saudi citizens and residents can register through the Nusuk app or the official online portal. Applicants must verify their details and register any companions accompanying them.

The ministry has highlighted the importance of proper planning before purchasing Hajj packages, which are available via the Nusuk app. Pilgrims can choose from different packages, and domestic pilgrims have the option to pay in three instalments.

New Visa Rules For 2025

Saudi Arabia has also introduced a major change to its visa policy. From 1 February 2025, individuals from 14 countries, including India, will only be eligible for single-entry visas. This change aims to prevent unauthorised Hajj travel.

Many visitors holding multiple-entry visas have previously entered Saudi Arabia and undertaken the Hajj pilgrimage without proper registration. This has contributed to extreme overcrowding at pilgrimage sites.

Countries Affected By The Visa Change

The new visa rule will affect visitors from the following countries:

  • Algeria
  • Bangladesh
  • Egypt
  • Ethiopia
  • India
  • Indonesia
  • Iraq
  • Jordan
  • Morocco
  • Nigeria
  • Pakistan
  • Sudan
  • Tunisia
  • Yemen

The Saudi government has indefinitely suspended one-year multiple-entry visas for tourism, business, and family visits for people from these countries. Instead, they will only be eligible for a single-entry visa valid for 30 days.
