Afghanistan Plane Crash 'Not An Indian Aircraft', Says Aviation Ministry

Indian Civil Aviation has clarified that the tragic incident, which led to a collision with the mountainous terrain of Zebak district in Badakhshan on Saturday night, January 20th, was not an Indian Aircraft.

As per the initial local report, it was informed that an Indian passenger plane crashed in northern Afghanistan and casualties are feared, on Sunday.

According to initial information, the mountainous areas of Top Khana, including the districts of Kiran and Minjan, and Zebak district in Badakhshan have witnessed a crash of a passenger jet aircraft.

    However, security officials in the province have stated that the type of aircraft and the number of passengers on board have yet to be determined.

    According to the Local broadcaster Tolo News Zabihullah Amiri, an official of the provincial Department of Information and Culture, a team has been sent to the crash site in the Topkhana area of Kuran-wa-Munjan district.

    India's Civil Aviation Ministry clarifies

    Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, MoCA_GoI wrote, " The unfortunate plane crash that has just occurred in Afghanistan is neither an Indian Scheduled Aircraft nor a Non-Scheduled (NSOP)/Charter aircraft. It is a Moroccan-registered small aircraft. More details are awaited."

    According to the latest information on the Afghanistan plane crash, the crashed aircraft was a DF-10 (Dassault Falcon) small aircraft registered in Morocco. The aircraft was an air ambulance and was flying from Thailand to Moscow and did re-fueling at Gaya Airport, reported ANI, citing Ministry of Civil Aviation statement.
