No Casualties In Residential Area Of São Paulo Crash Site
A plane carrying 62 individuals crashed in a residential area in São Paulo state, Brazil, on Friday. The airline VOEPASS confirmed the incident, stating the aircraft was en route to São Paulo's Guarulhos International Airport. The crash occurred in Vinhedo, with 58 passengers and four crew members on board. The cause of the accident remains unknown.

At an event in southern Brazil, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva requested a minute of silence from the crowd as he shared the tragic news. He mentioned that it seemed all passengers and crew had perished, though he did not specify how this information was obtained.
Valinhos City Communications Director Ana Cândida Briski informed CNN that no fatalities occurred in the residential area where the plane crashed. The confirmed death toll stands at 62, all of whom were passengers and crew aboard the aircraft.
Response from Authorities
Firefighters, military police, and civil defense teams were dispatched to the crash site in Vinhedo. Authorities cordoned off the entrance to the residential area where the plane went down. Journalists outside observed as official vehicles, including ambulances, entered and awaited further updates.
Video footage obtained by AP from a bystander showed at least two bodies among the flaming wreckage. Brazilian television network GloboNews aired aerial footage of the crash site, revealing an area engulfed in flames with smoke rising from the destroyed fuselage.
Details of the Crash
Additional footage on GloboNews earlier depicted the plane descending vertically and spiraling as it fell. The Capela neighbourhood, where the crash occurred, is located far from the centre of Vinhedo, a prosperous city with 77,000 residents.
The ill-fated flight had departed from Cascavel in Paraná state. The exact reasons behind this tragic accident are yet to be determined.
President Lula's call for a moment of silence highlighted the gravity of the situation. The nation mourns as investigations continue to uncover more details about this devastating event.
