Pakistan Will Destroy Dam If India Tries To Block Water: Defence Minister On New Delhi Suspending Indus Treaty

Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has warned India that any attempt to threaten its security will be met with full aggression and Islamabad will destroy dam if New Delhi tries to stop flowing of water to Pakistan.

Asif also accused India of sponsoring terrorism against Pakistan and accused "the banned TTP and BLA are mercenaries and proxies of India". Referring to its issues with India and Afghanistan, Asif added that Pakistan has enemies on both sides. He compared Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu claiming that both leaders are engaging in dangerous politics driven by ego and electoral motives.

"This is the same mentality being applied by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his allies," Hindustan Times quoted the Defence Minister as saying in an interview with Samaa TV.

He continued, "If something like this were to happen to us... if our very existence is threatened, God forbid, it becomes a matter of survival for us, then either we live, or no one does," the defence minister said, adding that "Pakistan's response will be remembered in history."

Limited War Between India-Pakistan

He claimed that the war between India and Pakistan will be limited to the Line of Control (LoC) and it will be controlled if at all it starts. The Pakistan Defence Minister has also slammed the Indian government's decision to suspend the Indus Water Treaty, calling it an act of war.

"If India constructs any structure to stop our water, it will be destroyed. Water is our red line. Future wars will be over water," Asif claimed.

India-Pakistan Relations Strain Further

The relationship between India and Pakistan has hit a new low over the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22 where 26 civilians were killed. Both countries have taken several measures and countermeasures which have added fuel to the tensions.

Meanwhile, India is gearing up to conduct mock drill across the country on May 7 as part of preparing civilians to face the unforeseen situation if the war breaks out between the nuclear-armed countries.
