Firefighters are currently working to extinguish the flames, leading to a delay in trading activities, according to the reports. All traders have been safely evacuated, the reports confirmed. According to Sindh Rescue 1122 spokesperson Hassaan Khan, no loss of life has been reported.

The fire was initially reported on the fourth floor of the Ali Habib Trading Company building on I.I. Chundrigar Road, as stated by Khan, as reported by The Dawn. It was mentioned that the cooling process of the building is currently underway.

Khan further mentioned that as soon as the information was received by Rescue 1122's Central Command and Control, two fire brigade trucks were dispatched to the spot to extinguish the blaze. It was added that one snorkel and a total of six fire brigades were deployed to the building to manage the fire, according to the Dawn.

In February, the Sindh High Court was informed by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation that a fire safety audit of over 265 commercial buildings had been conducted, revealing that not a single one possessed a fire safety certificate or a no-objection certificate (NOC) issued by the fire brigade department.

The report, filed on behalf of Metropolitan Commissioner Afzal Zaidi, indicated that serious shortcomings had been noted during the audit. In November, burn injuries were sustained by a woman after a fire broke out in a multi-storey building on I.I. Chundrigar Road, as per Pakistan media report.

It was stated that the fire had originated on the third floor of the Business and Finance Centre, and it was noted that the flames had spread up to the sixth floor. DIG Raza mentioned that the building housed 300 offices with 2,000 employees, all of whom were safely evacuated.
