Pakistan: Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium Destroyed, PSL Match Shifted To Karachi
Pakistani media is claiming that hours before a Pakistan Super League (PSL) match, a drone crashed near the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. This comes amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.
Now viral on social media, the video raises concerns over the safety around the event. It must be noted that Pakistan has always been an unsafe destination for sporting events.
In 2009, Sri Lanka national cricket team came under attack, when a bus carrying Sri Lankan cricketers, part of a larger convoy, was fired upon by 12 gunmen near Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The cricketers were on their way to play the third day of the second Test against the Pakistani cricket team. Six members of the Sri Lanka national cricket team were wounded and six Pakistani policemen and two civilians were killed.

In the wake of the crash, there is speculation that the PSL match, which was to feature Peshawar Zalmi against Karachi Kings, might be relocated to Karachi.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) found itself in a difficult position following the drone crash, leading to an emergency meeting to evaluate the security situation for England's players in the PSL.
The ECB's response highlights the international ramifications of security incidents in cricket-hosting nations, especially in regions experiencing geopolitical tensions. The decision faced by England's players-whether to continue participating in the PSL or return home-underscores the impact of security concerns on international sports.
