Pakistan PM Says Indian Missiles Hit Nur Khan Base, Call Came at 2:30am
In a rare public admission, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has confirmed that Indian ballistic missiles struck Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi and other sites during Operation Sindoor, India's retaliatory action following the Pahalgam terror attack.
Speaking at a special 'Youm-e-Tashakur' event at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad, Sharif said that Army Chief General Asim Munir personally called him on a secure line at 2:30am on the night of May 9-10 to inform him about the strikes.

"On the intervening night of May 9-10 around 2.30 am, Army chief Asim Munir called me, informing me that Hindustani ballistic missiles had hit Nur Khan airbase and other areas," Sharif said in a now-viral video.
"I swear by God, there was confidence, self-belief, and patriotism in the General's voice."
Sharif further praised the Pakistan Air Force, claiming it used indigenous technologies and modern equipment on Chinese fighter jets to defend the country.
This admission marks a shift from Pakistan's usual practice of denying or downplaying Indian military action.
Earlier, on May 10, Pakistan military spokesperson Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry had held a pre-dawn press conference in Islamabad, claiming that three airbases-Nur Khan (Rawalpindi), Murid (Chakwal), and Rafiqui (Shorkot)-were targeted by Indian missiles and drones.
Adding to the evidence, Maxar Technologies' satellite images from April 25 and May 10, 2025, showed visible damage to at least four Pakistani airbases, including Nur Khan, PAF Base Mushaf (Sargodha), Bholari, and PAF Base Shahbaz (Jacobabad).
Political Reactions in India
The admission by Shehbaz Sharif sparked reactions across the Indian political spectrum.
BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya posted on X,"Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif himself admits that General Asim Munir called him at 2:30am to inform him that India had bombed Nur Khan Air Base and several other locations. Let that sink in - the Prime Minister was woken up in the middle of the night with news of strikes deep inside Pakistan. This speaks volumes about the scale, precision, and boldness of #OperationSindoor."
Priyanka Chaturvedi of Shiv Sena (UBT) also weighed in,"To be as clueless as this man when terror airbases under his control are being destroyed by India. Deeply satisfying."
