Emergency Landing of Fly Jinnah Flight at Lahore Airport After Smoke Alert in Cargo Compartment
A potential disaster was narrowly avoided when a passenger plane from Pakistan's private airline caught fire. The aircraft made an emergency landing at Lahore airport on Monday. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of Pakistan reported that Fly Jinnah's flight FL-846 departed from Karachi to Lahore with 171 people, including crew members, on board.

"The captain issued a Mayday call near Lahore at 7:15 pm reporting after smoke emitting in the cargo compartment," stated CAA spokesperson Saifullah Khan. Following standard procedures, the airport's fire department was ready to handle any emergencies during the landing. "The plane landed safely at the Lahore airport at 7:23 pm," he added, confirming that all passengers and crew were evacuated safely using the aircraft's emergency system.
Emergency Response and Investigation
Fire brigades and ambulances were summoned before the plane's arrival. Upon landing, all doors were opened, and passengers exited via slides. Smoke was visible from the cargo area before landing. Passengers were instructed not to retrieve luggage from the plane. A technical team from CAA inspected the aircraft to investigate the smoke source.
The crew appeared stressed as they monitored air pressure levels during the incident. A source revealed that the pilot, a foreign national, managed the emergency landing with professional skill. Senior officials have initiated an investigation into the incident to determine its cause.
The quick response by airport authorities and crew ensured no injuries occurred during this emergency. The situation highlighted the importance of preparedness and adherence to safety protocols in aviation incidents.
