Pakistan Locals Attack US Consulate In Karachi Over Khamenei’s Death; Shia Muslim In J&K Join Demonstrations

Strong protests erupted in Pakistan's Karachi after reports confirmed that Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, was killed in coordinated US-Israeli airstrikes. A large group of demonstrators gathered outside the US Consulate, expressing anger over the military action.

According to visuals circulating online, some protesters moved toward the entrance area of the consulate and caused damage. Parts of the outer section were reportedly set on fire before security forces stepped in to control the situation.

Authorities later increased security around the diplomatic mission to prevent further unrest.

Iran Declares National Mourning

Iranian state media confirmed Khamenei's death and announced a 40-day mourning period across the country. The Iranian government strongly condemned the strikes, calling them unlawful and accusing the United States and Israel of escalating tensions in the region.

The strikes reportedly took place after negotiations over Iran's nuclear programme failed, pushing the already tense situation into open confrontation.

Demonstrations in Baghdad

Protests were not limited to Pakistan. In Iraq's capital, Baghdad, crowds gathered outside the US Embassy to voice their anger. Demonstrators accused Washington of increasing instability in the Middle East and demanded an end to foreign military operations in the region.

Security forces in Iraq tightened protection around diplomatic areas as tensions continued to rise.

Protests in Jammu and Kashmir

In India, demonstrations were also reported in the Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir. Protesters burned effigies of former US President Donald Trump and condemned the killing of Khamenei.

Syed Samar Kazmi, a Shia community leader, strongly criticised the airstrikes. He said the Iranian leader had been targeted unfairly and claimed that many people would remember his leadership and continue to raise their voices on issues affecting Muslims worldwide.
